Zalman’s Kosher Fast Food Restaurant Coming to Chicago
An Israeli street food restaurant is making its way to Chicago. Zalman’s, a kosher American-style chain with locations all over Israel (5 in Jerusalem, 1 in Lod, Bnei Brak, Tel Aviv, Ra’anana, and Bet Shemesh) serving hot dogs and other American street food is soon opening in West Rogers Park. The restaurant offers a taste of Jerusalem, originally started as a staple on Ben Yehuda Street.
Hot dogs will come in soft rolls with a side of fries or onion rings, topped with a choice of mayo, garlic, relish, tomato, sauerkraut, peppers, chimichuri, ketchup, mustard and sweet chili.
If the Israeli restaurant is any indication, sample items include schnitzel, sausage and toasted sandwiches featuring smoked turkey, beef shoulder and pastrami. The street cafe is also expected to hold an assortment of sauces for customers to fix their hot dog or sandwich to their liking.
Details and soft opening dates to come shortly, but it will be located at 2931 W. Touhy, in Skokie, IL. Zalman’s will operate under kosher supervision from the CRC.
